In July of this year, Chevrolet delivered its very first Bolt EV in UAE. The Chevrolet Bolt EV first debuted in the United Arab Emirates during the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show, but it wasn’t until this summer that the Bolt EV finally made it to dealerships on UAE soil.
First Driver’s Impression
The first person to take delivery of a Chevy Bolt EV in UAE was Saeed Obaid Juma Al Leem Al Ali. Saeed was overwhelmingly excited about the green lifestyle he would lead with his new Bolt EV. “I was particularly excited about [the Chevy Bolt EV] due to its green credentials. This car is the product of exceptional electric engineering with zero compromise on performance or comfort, and I’m looking forward to finally driving it on the roads. I feel very strongly about investing in a more sustainable future, constantly making adjustments to my lifestyle, and the Chevrolet Bolt EV is a big step in the right direction.”
Efforts To Help Adoption Of EV
Because electric vehicle technology is so new in UAE, Chevy and its strategic partner, GreenParking, wanted to help Saeed. That’s why GreenParking outfitted Saeed’s home with a complimentary Level 2 Charger. This charger will enable Saeed to power up his Bolt EV much faster at home so it is ready for driving every day.
To help drive adoption of electric vehicles like the Bolt EV, the UAE government is offering several incentives. These include free charging at any DEWA-approved station until the end of next year, free parking, free Salik tags, and free registration.
