Try Some of These Healthy Summer Road Trip Snacks



Whether you are heading to the beach with friends or loading the Chevy Suburban with your extended family this summer, you are bound to need some nourishment on your summer road trip. Rather than stop to eat fast food or gas station grub, consider packing some of these healthy summer road trip snacks for your family and friends to enjoy.

Fruits and veggies

If you keep a cooler up front with you for waters, save some room for fruits and veggies like mixed berries, carrot sticks, celery, cherry tomatoes, apples, and bananas. Fruits and vegetables won’t keep you full for a long time, but they can be refreshing as well as healthy.

Mixed nuts

For more protein, make your own big bag of mixed nuts. You can add in peanuts, cashews, walnuts, pecans—whatever nut variety you prefer.


Make some homemade popcorn on the stove (it’s much healthier that way) before you leave and pack it in some gallon-sized Ziploc bags.

All-Natural jerky

Jerky is a staple of American road trips, but don’t settle for the fatty beef sticks you find in gas stations. You can make your own jerky using a food dehydrator at home before embarking on your adventure.
