The Chevrolet Equinox design is shedding some weight for the latest model year, offering added performance, handling, and lower fuel economy. The 2018 Equinox now weighs 400 pounds less than previous model years, yet it’s still one of the most accommodating and best-equipped vehicles in its segment.
According to USA Today, the new Equinox comes standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. You can also opt for the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, or, additionally, a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel engine option. The diesel can be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, improving fuel economy further.
“The transmission shifts quickly and smoothly,” said Mark Phelan, auto reviewer for the Detroit Free Press, as he lists his favorite features. “The steering and suspension were a pleasant surprise on twisty secondary roads in the Smoky Mountains. The steering provides good feedback and on-center feel, while the suspension kept the Equinox planted and stable.”
Other great features on the Equinox, including its lightweight engineering and powerful engine options, include the interior design. You can choose from leather upholstery and low-gloss chrome, while comfortable seating is perfect for long drives. Also, the intuitive touch screen and voice-recognition systems are ideal for any driver. Stop by Fred Caldwell Chevrolet to learn more about the Chevy Equinox.
