Chances are pretty good that if you bring a life-size LEGO® Batmobile to a major auto show, you’ll be the talk of the floor regardless of what anyone else does. This is exactly what happened for Chevrolet, who brought a to-scale LEGO Batmobile to the 2017 North American International Auto Show in celebration of the new LEGO Batman Movie and quickly won the day with one of the most-talked about displays.
According to Chevy, the life-size Chevy LEGO Batmobile stands a whopping 83 inches high, 204 inches long, and about 111 inches wide. That’s roughly the size of a real car. It weighed in at 1,695 pounds, with each tire weighing over 100 pounds alone. How many bricks were used? Over the course of 1,833 hours, the car required nearly 350,000 bricks. Believe it or not, it took an additional 222 hours to simply design the car.
“To work on the LEGO® Batmobile with Warner Bros. is an absolute thrill for us at Chevy,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Many of the themes in ‘The LEGO Batman Movie,’ like imagination, family and community, align perfectly with our Chevy brand values and add to the value of the partnership.”
The new LEGO Batman movie hits theaters on February 10. You may not be able to take a LEGO Batmobile to theaters to see it, but, hey, you can dream.
