With its new 2016 Colorado Diesel, Chevrolet has snagged the title of America’s most efficient pickup from Fiat Chrysler’s truck division, Ram. Earning an impressive 31 miles per gallon on the highway, the 2016 Colorado two-wheel drive with the Duramax turbo-diesel engine earns better fuel economy than the 29 mpg currently earned by the Ram brand’s diesel engine.
“The Colorado Duramax diesel is in a league of its own,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing in a statement. “Colorado’s gas models already led the segment in fuel efficiency, and the new diesel – which no other non-GM competitor offers on a midsize truck – gives customers even greater freedom to go where they want with fewer fill-ups.”
The Chevrolet Colorado is the most fuel efficient pickup in America, and it doesn’t sacrifice power or towing capability, either. The 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and puts out 181 horsepower. Additionally, it’s capable of towing 7,700 pounds – enough to bring your toys along for the ride.
