Chevy has announced that when the next-generation 2016 Chevy Cruze compact sedan makes its way to the U.S. market early next year, it will bring with it a hatchback sibling. Automotive News reports that the hatchback Cruze would likely be available sometime after the four-door sedan arrives in dealerships in the first quarter.
Chevy makes clear that the U.S. will be the only new market to receive the hatchback body style, commenting “We have not announced other variants for any other markets at this time.” It should be notes that a hatchback Cruze is already sold in Australia and China, but the 2016 model headed to the U.S. will see a slew of worthwhile updates.
The 2016 Chevy Cruze hatchback will be based off the recently revealed 2016 Chevy Cruze sedan, which is 2.7 inches longer and an inch less tall than the outgoing model, offering a much more sporty and athletic overall design. The new Chevy Cruze is promised to be quicker, more fuel-efficient, lighter, and larger than its predecessor, features that will likely carry over to a hatchback version.
Look for the 2016 Chevy Cruze to make its way to Fred Caldwell Chevrolet early next year!
