Chevrolet has just made teaching your teenager safe driving habits significantly easier. The American carmaker recently introduced the brand-new Teen Driver system, a program that helps teens become better drivers. This new safety system is only available in the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and makes sure your teen driver is safe, even when you’re not in the car with them.
“We developed this system so parents could use it as a teaching tool with their kids—they can discuss and reinforce safe driving habits,” said MaryAnn Beebe, General Motors’ safety engineer. “As a mother of two, I know anything that has the potential of keeping one’s family safer is of great value to parents.”
The Chevrolet Malibu Teen Driver system uses a variety of alerts to keep track of your teens driving data. This data includes the distance driven and maximum speed traveled. It also keeps track of instances when stability control, antilock brakes, or Forward Collision Braking was used to prevent collisions. This system can even warn your teen driver if they are driving over the speed limit!
This safe, new system debuted this week at the New York Auto Show in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu just in time for Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
